Wenger talks up top-of-table-clash with Man United

AFP , LONDON COLNEY, ENGLAND

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted his side cannot afford to lose against leaders Manchester United this weekend if they are to maintain their slim hopes of winning the English Premiership title this season.

United are 15 points clear of fourth-placed Arsenal and on Friday, Wenger, asked if defeat would spell the end of the Gunners' title challenge, told reporters: "For us, certainly."

All the Premiership's top four teams were in action against one another this weekend with Liverpool (third) at home to second-placed reigning champions Chelsea at Anfield yesterday.

Victory for Chelsea would cut United's lead to just three points heading into today's match at the Emirates Stadium, one Wenger is relishing after Arsenal's 1-0 win at Old Trafford in September.

"It's a good opportunity to reduce the distance with Manchester United," he said. "It is a big weekend for the Premiership as well because Liverpool play against Chelsea."
