Pedro Martinez ended a run of frustration against the Baltimore Orioles, and the Boston Red Sox put on another hitting show Monday night in a 12-5 blowout.
Martinez (11-4) was pulled with one out in the seventh inning during a steady rain. He allowed five runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out five.
Martinez is 7-1 in his last 12 starts with his only loss Wednesday against the Orioles. He came in 0-2 with a 8.66 ERA in three starts against Baltimore this season.

Jason Varitek singled in two runs to cap a six-run third inning against rookie Erik Bedard (4-5) and finished with three RBIs. Gabe Kapler and Manny Ramirez had three hits each for the Red Sox, who have scored 39 runs on 52 hits in their last four games.
Tigers 13, Indians 4
In Cleveland, Mike Maroth pitched seven soggy innings and Detroit got home runs from Carlos Guillen and Marcus Thames.

Thames hit a two-run homer in Detroit's six-run first inning against Cliff Lee (10-3), and Guillen had a three-run shot when the Tigers added six more in the fifth to open a 12-2 lead. Ivan Rodriguez, who entered the night as the AL's leading hitter, went 0-for-4 and was the only Tigers starter without a hit on a misty night at Jacobs Field.
Maroth (8-7) rode the run support to his third straight win. He allowed four runs and eight hits. Guillen had four RBIs for the Tigers. Brandon Inge had a career-high four hits with two RBIs.
Yankees 6, Blue Jays 5, 10 innings
In Toronto, Tony Clark hit a go-ahead double in the 10th inning, and New York won despite Mariano Rivera blowing his second straight save.
Rivera converted 23 consecutive saves before giving up three runs in an 11-10 loss to Boston on Saturday. He failed to hold a two-run lead in the ninth inning against Toronto, but Clark hit a two-out double off Jason Frasor (3-3), and the Yankees ended Toronto's three-game winning streak.
Chris Gomez tied the game with a two-run single to center with two outs in the ninth, but Rivera (2-1) pitched a perfect 10th for the win. Gomez drove in three runs for the Blue Jays, who got homers from Carlos Delgado and Gregg Zaun.
Twins 6, White Sox 2
In Chicago, Brad Radke allowed three hits in seven innings, and Henry Blanco homered off nemesis Mark Buehrle to lead Minnesota over Chicago.
Radke (7-6) retired the final 16 batters he faced and did not allow a hit after the second, when he gave up Paul Konerko's 27th homer and a single to Timo Perez.
Blanco, who entered the game in an 8-for-49 slump, hit his sixth homer following Corey Koskie's triple in the fourth. Minnesota collected 10 hits in the first four innings against Buehrle (10-4), who came in 3-0 against the Twins this season and 6-0 dating to June 2003.
Rangers 6, Angels 1
In Anaheim, California, Michael Young hit a leadoff homer, Gary Matthews Jr. added a three-run shot and Ryan Drese earned his first road win of the season for AL West-leading Texas.
Drese (7-5) outpitched Kelvim Escobar for the second time in six days, allowing a run and 10 hits over 6 2-3 innings against a lineup missing ailing sluggers Vladimir Guerrero and Garret Anderson.
Escobar (5-8) lost for the sixth time in seven decisions.
Young drove Escobar's second pitch into the left-field bullpen for his eighth career leadoff homer and 14th overall this season. Matthews made it 6-0 in the fifth with his eighth homer.
Athletics 14, Mariners 5
In Oakland, California, Eric Byrnes had a three-run double and four RBIs, and the Athletics bailed out struggling starter Barry Zito by rallying from five runs down to beat Seattle.
Ichiro Suzuki extended his hitting streak to 18 games and Justin Leone homered for the Mariners, but it wasn't enough to keep Seattle from losing its 13th straight road game.
Erubiel Durazo homered for the second straight day, Damian Miller had three hits and an RBI, Eric Chavez had three RBIs and Mark Kotsay two for the A's, who took advantage of 14 walks.
Zito (6-7) beat Travis Blackley (1-3) to win for just the second time since June 8.
Jaret Wright and four Atlanta relievers shut down the Pirates in what might have been Kris Benson's last start for Pittsburgh, a 4-2 Braves victory Monday night keyed by two hits from Johnny Estrada.
J.D. Drew ran his hitting streak to 22 games with a single in Atlanta's go-ahead fourth inning against Benson (8-8), expected to be dealt by Saturday's deadline for trading without waivers. Benson was 4-1 in his previous seven starts and 3-0 in his last five.
Wright (8-5) lasted only five innings on a drizzly, muggy night, but still checked Pittsburgh on two runs and five hits, including Jack Wilson's solo home run. John Smoltz got his 22nd save.
Estrada had a RBI double. His .438 average with runners in scoring position leads the majors.
Marlins 11, Phillies 3
In Miami, Jeff Conine had a three-run double, A.J. Burnett survived five rocky innings and Florida extended its mastery over Philadelphia .
The Phillies have lost 11 consecutive games in Miami, including four this year. They're 1-8 against the Marlins this season and 16-31 over the past three years.
Conine's double was the big blow in the first. Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer in the seventh for the Marlins, his 22nd. Luis Castillo went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored in support of Burnett (2-5), who beat Kevin Millwood (8-6). Nate Bump got his first career save.
Cardinals 9, Reds 6, 11 innings
In Cincinnati, Tony Womack singled with the bases loaded in the 11th inning, sparking a four-run rally that enabled St. Louis to hand the Reds their sixth straight loss.
St. Louis improved to 9-2 against Cincinnati this season by taking advantage of a pivotal error. Jim Edmonds led off the 11th with a four-pitch walk from Phil Norton (1-3). After John Mabry singled off John Riedling, right fielder Wily Mo Pena let Mike Matheny's routine fly deflect off the heel of his glove for an error, loading the bases before Womack's hit made a winner of Ray King (4-1).
Cubs 3, Brewers 1
In Milwaukee, Matt Clement won for the first time since June 8, and Mark Grudzielanek had three hits and two RBIs for Chicago.
Milwaukee, 3-9 since the All-Star break, was 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. In their last seven games, six of them losses, the Brewers have just three hits in 55 at-bats with runners on second or third.
Clement (8-9) gave up one run on four hits in six innings to snap a career-worst five-game losing streak. He beat Victor Santos (9-5), who stifled the Cubs until Derrek Lee led off the seventh with his 19th homer. LaTroy Hawkins pitched a perfect ninth for his 14th save.
Dodgers 9, Rockies 7
In Denver, Milton Bradley broke out of a slump with three hits and three RBIs, and Adrian Beltre hit his 28th homer and drove in two runs in Los Angeles' ninth straight victory on the road.
Bradley was 3-for-4 after entering the game in a 2-for-16 slide. Jose Hernandez also homered for the NL West-leading Dodgers, who had 12 hits in winning for the 18th time in 21 games overall.
Jeromy Burnitz, Todd Helton and Vinny Castilla homered for Colorado. Jose Hernandez connected for the Dodgers.
Padres 3, Giants 2
In San Diego, Jake Peavey didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning, Barry Bonds was thrown out at the plate trying to score tying run in the eighth and the Padres beat San Francisco.
Ryan Klesko walked and went to third when Phil Nevin singled off Felix Rodriguez (3-5) to start the seventh. Scott Eyre relieved and allowed a decisive sacrifice fly by Brian Giles.
Scott Linebrink (5-1) pitched 1 2-3 innings of scoreless relief. Trevor Hoffman worked the ninth for his 27th save in 30 opportunities.
Akinori Otsuka started the eighth by walking Bonds -- his fourth of the game. Bonds stole second and went to third on a groundout. He tried to score on A.J. Pierzynski's grounder to second baseman Mark Loretta, but was tagged out by Padres catcher Ramon Hernandez.
