Bangladesh captain gets a pair of early wickets in third test

Bangladesh captain Khaled Mahmud gave Pakistan early scare yesterday with two quick wickets on the second day of the third cricket test.

After Bangladesh posting a solid first innings score of 281 earlier in the day, Mahmud removed Mohammad Hafeez (21) and rookie Salman Butt (12) as Pakistan went for lunch at 50 for two.

Yasir Hameed survived a confident caught behind appeal in the last over before lunch while batting on four runs. Experienced batsman Inzamam-ul-Haqentle medium pace, Mahmud got the edge of Butt's bat off his second ball of the innings before winning the leg before wicket decision of Hafeez in the next over.

Earlier, Pakistan's medium fast bowler Shabbir Ahmad wrapped up the Bangladesh first innings with three wickets in six deliveries inside the first hour of play. The visitors resumed at the overnight 248 for six.

Paceman Umer Gul found the edge of Khaled Mashud's bat (29) on the first ball of the second morning to end up with four for 86. Ahmad then mopped up the tail to finish with three for 70.
