Murder most foul over a four-course dinner

By Jules Quartly  /  STAFF REPORTER

Take a seat, quaff a glass of champagne and meet your dinner companions, one of whom is a murderer.

Welcome to the world of the Wilde Theatre Company which is presenting a mystery meal tonight at the Noble House dining room, Grand Formosa Regent Hotel.

Cocktails at 7:30pm mark the beginning of the play Dead Lovelyand before dinner you'll be introduced to the cast of characters, including the flamboyant Henry Craon, Lord Doomsbury (who has a sexual identity problem), blonde actress Bunnie Berringer, an Irish rogue and others.

While you sup a white screen will show action from the play and provide plot elements. Your role is to be a sleuth, engage with the characters, sort out the clues and discard the red herrings to find the killer.

It's theatrical amusement in the grand British tradition, served up by the founders of Wilde Theatre: the Irish writer/director from Ireland, Barbara Coughlin, and English actor David Young.

Their latest play is a collaborative effort with the cast and follows on from the sellout performances of The Odd Couple last year.

"With this play we have obviously been influenced by the tradition of great detective writers like Agatha Christie, with characters like Hercule Poirot," Young said.

"But our characters are way over the top, even cliched. It's comical, a game and not intended to be taken too seriously."

The five-star entertainment tonight includes a champagne

reception, a four-course meal and wines, all for NT$2,200.

For tickets to this performance or another installment of the whodunit thriller at The Living Room on May 6, call the organizers on (0916) 442 532 or (0930) 708 479. Alternatively, send an e-mail to wildetheatre@gmail.com.
