Gypsies plight overlooked when we remember the holocaust

An estimated 1 million Gypsies lived in Europe at the time of the holocaust, most in eastern Europe, especially in the then Soviet Union and Romania.

Gypsies who lived in western Europe -- including France, Belgium and Holland -- were also deported to concentration camps.
