A delegation of 28 Taiwanese start-ups are attending CES in Las Vegas to gain exposure for their brands, the Ministry of Science and Technology announced on Monday.
The start-ups are largely involved in providing solutions in healthcare, Internet security and smart city development, and their presence at CES would demonstrate Taiwan’s capability for innovation, the ministry said.
They include sink care product vendor AESOP Technology (醫守科技), healthcare services providers FaceHeart Inc (鉅怡智慧) and Ahead, smart transportation control solutions provider 3 Drens (三維人), and Language Hero (語言英雄), which specializes in artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) technologies.
Most of the firms come from its Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) initiative, which is aimed at cultivating tech startups by helping them raise funds to grow, the ministry said in a statement.
The delegation on Friday held a Taiwan Demo Day in Silicon Valley, and the TTA program invited potential investors to meet with the startups, the ministry said.
The Taiwan Demo Day focused on innovation and matchmaking strategies in the US and Taiwan and bolstered the startups’ chances of extending their reach globally, Deputy Science Minister Hsu Yu-chin (許有進) said in the statement.
The start-ups used the Silicon Valley event as a warm-up for CES, Hsu said.
The government-sponsored Industrial Technology Research Institute (工研院) is also attending CES to exhibit its latest artificial intelligence applications for use in healthcare, smart robots and smart displays.
The National Development Council last month announced that the Startup Island Taiwan logo would be displayed internationally for the first time at this year’s CES.
The Taiwanese start-ups at CES would be using the logo, the council said.
