Canadian firms seek Taiwanese tech partnerships

Staff writer, with CNA

The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei held one-on-one business meetings on Monday to match up five Canadian wireless technology companies with potential business partners in Taiwan.

The Canadian companies focus on machine-to-machine (M2M), or Internet of Things technologies, including Industry Seal International, which offers touchscreen-based navigation and tablet solutions.

Linquet Technologies Inc provides the self-named Linquet device, a tiny Bluetooth transmitter that can be attached to keys, wallet, bikes and even pets to link up with phones and sound an alarm when either the phone or the transmitter is out of range.

The remaining three are embedded applications designer Connect Tech Inc, satellite-based tracking system provider SkyWave Mobile Communications and strapless heart rate monitor maker Mio Global.

Each firm was expected to meet with 14 to 18 Taiwanese companies to discuss cooperation during the half-day event, the trade office said.
