Acer Inc (宏碁) yesterday said that it continued to make strong progress in the US market last quarter thanks in part to its stronger push in the education and commercial sectors.
In the US’ overall PC market, Acer’s shipments grew 29.6 percent year-on-year in the July-to-September period, achieving the highest growth rate among the top 10 players, the company said in a statement, citing data from tech research firm International Data Corp (IDC).
Acer boosted its shipments in the US commercial PC market by 79.4 percent year-on-year, securing a 6.7 percent market share — its highest in two years.
Maintaining the momentum it has gained this year in the US market, Acer said that its progress made last quarter was the result of “an attractive and competitive product portfolio.”
“Stronger focus on education and small and medium-sized business customers,” also contributed to growth last quarter, it said.
However, the company did not release any shipment figures.
Acer last month said it had been awarded a substantial tender by the Georgian Ministry of Education and Science to supply 47,000 Acer TravelMate B115 notebook PCs.
It is the largest tender awarded to Acer in Europe or Eastern Europe so far this year and “exemplifies the progress the company is making in its commercial PC business,” the company said.
