Everlight Electronics Co (億光電子), the nation’s top LED chip packager, yesterday said its quarterly sales are expected to achieve sequential growth throughout the year due to its increased utilization rate and orders from clients for LED lighting products.
Everlight’s utilization rate reached 90 percent this quarter, indicating that the company’s second-quarter sales could be higher than last quarter, Everlight chairman Robert Yeh (葉寅夫) told shareholders.
The company plans to expand its utilization rate by another 20 percent during the second half of the year in order to fulfill increased orders from clients, Yeh said.
Shareholders yesterday approved the company’s plan to distribute a NT$1.2 cash dividend per share on earnings of NT$545 million (US$18.22 million), or NT$1.3 per share, generated last year.
“Everlight is expected to continue its leading role in the LED industry because the company is competent in packaging products,” Yeh said.
“LED lighting products are going to be used widely in many displays and demand for the products has soared over the past few years,” Yeh said.
“As a result of the government’s subsidies plan and the current energy-saving trend, robust demand for LED products should be sustained throughout next year,” he added.
Meanwhile, LED chipmaker Unity Opto Technology Co (東貝光電) yesterday forecast its second-quarter sales would grow at a double-digit rate from last quarter because of growing demand for LED backlight and lighting products.
At the company’s annual general meeting in New Taipei City (新北市), Unity Opto said the number of orders it received during the first half of the year had surpassed those of all of last year.
The company’s second-quarter sales are likely to achieve double-digit growth on both quarterly and yearly bases, Unity Opto said.
In 2011, Unity Opto reported a net loss of NT$531 million, or a net loss per share of NT$0.25.
