Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has been chosen by a travel and dating Web site as one of the region’s best airports to get stuck at in the event of a delay, because of its cleanliness, aesthetics, amenities, and selection of food and shopping outlets.
Based on a poll of 7,000 members of MissTravel.com, Hong Kong International Airport, Seoul Incheon International Airport in South Korea and Singapore’s Changi International Airport are the top three airports in Asia that respondents would not mind getting stuck at, MissTravel.com said yesterday.
Taoyuan airport ranks No. 10 on the “Get Stuck In” list, according to the US-based Web site.
Natural disasters, weather and other unforeseen events can leave travelers stuck. However, some airports have added services, better culinary selections and offer a more entertaining mix of amenities, the Web site said.
“In order to ease frustration, travelers need to be distracted and entertained while waiting,” Brandon Wade, founder and chief executive of the Web site wrote in an e-mailed statement.
Some of the other airports on the list are Japan’s Narita International Airport (No. 4) and Chubu Centrair International Airport (No. 5), the Philippines’ Manila International Airport (No. 6), China’s Beijing Capital International (No. 7), Japan’s Kansai International (No. 8) and Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (No. 9).
The Philippines’ Davao International Airport, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Thailand’s Chiang Mai International Airport were rated the least desirable airports in Asia, the survey showed.

US President Donald Trump on Friday blocked US photonics firm HieFo Corp’s US$3 million acquisition of assets in New Jersey-based aerospace and defense specialist Emcore Corp, citing national security and China-related concerns.
