Japanese firm agrees to aid in high-tech solutions

By Amy Su  /  Staff Reporter

The Council for Economic Planning and Development yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Macnica Inc, one of the major consumer technology solution providers in Japan, for cooperation in various high-tech industries.

This is the fourth memorandum that has been signed during the government-led “Investment in Taiwan” roadshow to Japan, the council said in a statement.

Macnica promised to increase investment in Taiwan’s semiconductor channel business and expand its operating scale in Taiwan, the statement said.

In addition, the Japan-based company would build up more than one alliance with local governments or private institutes, transferring and sharing its techniques with the semiconductor industry, while researching and developing electronic applications with local companies, the council said.
