CPC Corp, Taiwan (CPC, 台灣中油) said yesterday it was cutting prices for gasoline and diesel products by NT$0.70 per liter.
The state-run company added that it would continue to offer special reduced prices through Oct. 23 in 20 townships in Nantou, Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Taitung counties that were severely damaged by Typhoon Morakot.
The discounts for these areas are NT$2.50 per liter for gasoline and NT$1.50 for diesel.
The new rates are effective today, CPC said.
Smaller rival Formosa Petrochemical Corp (台塑石化) also announced that it would cut fuel prices to match CPC’s, effective today.
Formosa Petrochemical added that it was maintaining its favorable rates in 21 townships seriously devastated by Morakot, with discounts of NT$3.20 per liter for gasoline and NT$2.30 for diesel.
