The government-led Taiwan Memory Co (TMC, 台灣記憶體公司) said it has not signed any agreements with any company for future investment as the TMC has yet to complete a business plan for investors, TMC head John Hsuan (宣明智) said in a statement yesterday.
The company said a report by the Chinese-language Commercial Times had incorrectly said that private investor Silver Lake and US memory module supplier Kingston Technology Co had agreed to invest in TMC.
Hsuan said last week that many companies had expressed an interest in investing in the chip firm, launched two weeks ago by the Ministry of Economic Affairs to secure a technological alliance with a foreign chipmaker.
Hsuan also rejected reports that TMC was scheduled to announce its technological partner next Monday.
He said that TMC would follow its schedule of selecting a partner by the end of the month following intensive meetings with Elpida Memory Inc in Japan and Micron Technology Inc of the US.
