A house fire in Yunlin County's Lunbei Township (崙背) early today left two people requiring emergency treatment and a third with minor injuries, authorities said.
The Yunlin County Fire Department said in a statement that it received a report of thick smoke billowing from a one-story house on Minzhu Road at 5:51am.
Firefighters rescued three people from the building, including a 90-year-old woman surnamed Hsu (徐), who had minor injuries and was conscious, the department said.

A 55-year-old woman surnamed Chen (陳) and a 62-year-old man surnamed Lee (李) were found without vital signs, but both regained a pulse after emergency treatment, the department said.
All three remain hospitalized, it added.
The fire spread across an area of about 50m², the department said, adding that it had notified the Lunbei Township Office and the county's Social Affairs Department for assistance.
The extent of the property damage and the cause of the fire are being investigated, it said.

Typhoon Saudel has shown signs of weakening but is still expected to affect Taiwan when it comes closest to the nation on Friday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said today.
