This year's Double Ten National Day fireworks display is to be held at the mouth of the Beinan River (卑南溪) in Taitung County, with the theme “Gateway to the world: Austronesian Taiwan," the Taitung County Government said today.
On Oct. 10, a stage in Seashore Park would also host performances and a market showcasing local specialties as part of the National Day celebrations, it said.
Taitung County Commissioner Yao Ching-ling (饒慶鈴) said that the county is honored to host the National Day fireworks display once again, with this year’s theme to showcase Taitung’s rich multicultural heritage, natural beauty and diverse ethnic cultures.

The event would show the world Taiwan's open, diverse and inclusive culture, and celebrate longstanding ties with the international community, she said.
The Taitung County Government said it is going ahead with preparations, including safety measures, traffic control and a shuttle bus service, with further details to be announced once plans are finalized.

Taiwan has suspended visa processing for Moroccan nationals in response to Morocco halting visa applications for Taiwanese travelers worldwide, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today. The Moroccan embassy in Japan on Thursday last week informed Taiwanese travel agencies that it would suspend its visa confirmation letter application service for Taiwanese seeking to travel to Morocco, the ministry said in a statement. The Central Weather Administration (CWA) today said it could issue a sea warning for Typhoon Dolphin as early as Friday afternoon, warning that the storm's large radius could bring torrential rain to northern mountainous areas over the weekend. As of 8am today, Dolphin was about 2,720km east of Taipei, moving west-northwest at 25kph, CWA data showed. It had maximum sustained winds of 155kph and a storm radius of 320km.
