The Polish parliament has released a statement supporting Taiwan’s international participation and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, while voicing opposition to China’s misinterpretation of UN Resolution 2758.
Polish lawmaker Krzysztof Truskolaski, the chair of the Polish-Taiwanese Parliamentarian Group, issued the statement on Friday last week on behalf of the Polish Senate and the Sjem, the lower house of parliament.
The statement reaffirmed that Taiwan and Poland share mutual values of liberty, democracy and human rights.

In the past few years, the two nations have deepened collaboration on trade and investment, higher education and technology, the statement said.
It echoed a European Parliament resolution that said UN Resolution 2758 does not take a position on Taiwan’s status.
The resolution, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1971, recognized the People’s Republic of China as “the only lawful representatives of China” to the international body, and expelled “the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek [蔣介石] from the place which they unlawfully occupy at the United Nations and in all the organizations related to it.” It does not mention Taiwan.
The Polish statement also said that Taiwan is a major global producer of semiconductors and a trustworthy partner for Poland amid the restructuring of global supply chains.
The parliamentarian group supports establishing partnerships with Taiwan to promote cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises and across fields including semiconductors, green energy, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, it said.
Taiwan’s representative office in Poland said that the two nations share mutual concerns regarding global and regional security.
Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, leaders around the world have emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it said.
The parliamentarian group urged the Polish government to support the peaceful resolution of issues in the Taiwan Strait and oppose any unilateral attempts to change the “status quo,” the office said.
It also thanked the Polish parliament for its support of Taiwan’s international participation and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
