Online registration for this year's Taipei 101 Run Up, a race up Taipei's landmark skyscraper, is to begin at noon today, organizers said yesterday.
Taipei 101's chairperson Janet Chia (賈永婕) said at a news conference that the 5,200 spots for the race on May 3 are expected to sell out quickly.
"I think Taipei 101 Run Up can be considered one of Taiwan's most famous, most representative competitive events," Chia said.

Chia added that 15 percent of the registration fees would be donated to four charities: Basegarden, Teach For Taiwan, World Vision and the CTBC Charity Foundation.
Chou Szu-chi (周思齊), a former professional baseball player and founder of Basegarden, was also named "ambassador" for the event.
Speaking at the news conference, Chou said that running up Taiwan's tallest building "should be quite exhausting."
Eight Chinese naval vessels and 24 military aircraft were detected crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait between 6am yesterday and 6am today, the Ministry of National Defense said this morning.
