Minister of Digital Affairs Audrey Tang (唐鳳) on Thursday attended meetings with the Lithuanian Seimas’ Committee on Economics and the Lithuanian Parliamentary Group for Relations with Taiwan before attending a forum on democracy and digital freedom, the Ministry of Digital Affairs said in a statement.
Tang was accompanied by Representative to Lithuania Eric Huang (黃鈞耀) in the meetings with the economics committee, led by its chairman, Kazys Starkevicius, and the parliamentary group, which was led by its chairman, Matas Maldeikis.
Tang and Seimas members had productive interactions and discussed the tenacity of Taiwan’s response in the face of diplomatic challenges, with Tang providing examples of Taiwan’s innovative policies, the ministry said.

Tang later attended the Free Digital Democracy Dialogue organized by the ministry and two Lithuanian institutions: the Vilnius University Institute of International Relations and Political Science and the Go Forward Academy.
“Democracy itself was once a radical experiment,” Tang said at the forum, adding that it was once an “applied social technology about how people come up with understanding and decisions together.”
Tang was accompanied by Lithuanian Minister of the Economy and Innovation Ausrine Armonaite, who introduced her to the Baltic State’s digitizing of government services.
Tang signed up for a Lithuanian e-resident card, which grants foreigners access to the country’s local administrative, public and commercial services.
Tang said the ministry governs Taiwan’s regulations on digital services and aims to establish mutually beneficial bilateral partnerships and services.
Tang also attended Lithuania’s Day of the Defenders of Freedom bonfire with Seimas Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Zygimantas Pavilionis and Seimas member Emanuelis Zingeris. The event commemorated people who in 1991 lost their lives in clashes with Soviet troops.

"The CCP's unlawful activities will NOT intimidate me from voicing Taiwan's interests in the international community," she wrote. There have been clear signs of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) attempts to interfere in the nationwide recall vote on July 26 in support of Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) legislators facing recall, an unnamed government official said, warning about possible further actions. The CCP is actively involved in Taiwanese politics, and interference in the recall vote is to be expected, with multiple Chinese state media and TAO attempts to discredit the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and undermine public support of their recall movement, the official said. This interference includes a smear campaign initiated this month by a pro-Beijing Hong Kong news outlet against

A first shipment of five tons of Taiwan tilapia was sent from Tainan to Singapore on Wednesday, following an order valued at NT$600,000 (US$20,500) placed with a company in the city. The products, including frozen whole fish and pre- cooked fish belly, were dispatched from Jiangjun Fishing Harbor, where a new aquatic processing and logistics center is under construction. At the launch, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che (黃偉哲) called the move a “breakthrough,” marking Taiwan’s expansion into the Singaporean tilapia market. Taiwan’s tilapia exports have traditionally focused on the United States, Canada, and the Middle East, Huang said, adding that the new foothold in
