The Agriculture and Food Agency (AFA) yesterday unveiled 19 nonperishable food products that can be stored at room temperature being sold at 7-Eleven stores for emergency use by the public in Taipei and New Taipei City.
The list of food items, developed in a collaboration with 18 local food processing companies, was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and an increase in natural disasters over the years, the agency said.
The items include main meals, side dishes, soups and beverages designed to meet nutritional needs and utilize local agricultural products, it said.
The main meal menu includes garden vegetable congee, grouper fish congee and mushroom risotto, while the side dishes include pickles, organically farmed red-haired baby corn, Korean-style bamboo shoots and simmered king trumpet mushrooms, it said.
Low-sugar beverages and soups include sweet taro soup, high-fiber quinoa and soy milk, and 100 percent natural pineapple extract, it added.
The food items can be kept for a long period, provide good nutritional content, are easy to carry and are filling, making them suitable for household emergency stockpiles and mountaineering, the agency said.
Taipei and New Taipei City residents are urged to avail themselves of the food items, which can be bought at 200 7-Eleven stores, the agency said.
