Taiwanese-Japanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武) would be Taiwanese mothers’ No. 1 partner if they could choose somebody to share a free trip with on Mother’s Day, a survey released by online hotel booking service Hotels.com showed on Monday.
Hong Kong actor-singer Andy Lau (劉德華) was second choice, while Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je (柯文哲) ranked third, ahead of Japanese actor-singer Takuya Kimura and US actor Brad Pitt.
The survey of mothers on their views of gifts for Mother’s Day, which falls on Sunday, found that more than half of the mothers (51.3 percent) interviewed said they hoped to get a trip as a present.
The most preferred destination was Tokyo, followed by Taiwanese cities, Paris and Dubai.
More than half of those polled also said they hoped to enjoy a spa treatment on their trip to relieve stress.
Forty-four percent of the mothers said that they hoped for a dinner prepared by a Michelin-starred chef, and 37.3 percent said they hoped to go on a shopping spree.
Nearly 80 percent of mothers surveyed said that if they were to get a trip as a gift, they would most prefer to go with their families and least want to spend the trip with their parents-in-law.
