The Taipei Pavilion’s exhibitions at the Shanghai World Expo will be displayed at the Pavilion of the Future of the Taipei International Flora Expo in April, when the six-month Shanghai event ends.
The Taipei Pavilion, a wooden structure renovated from an old power plant, is among 55 exhibitions at the Shanghai Expo’s Urban Best Practices Area, showcasing Taipei’s wireless Internet access and garbage recycling policies.
Exhibitions in the pavilion include a “Future Theater,” a 3D theater featuring a six-minute film on life in Taipei — from the Shilin Night Market to MRT stations — and an interactive zone that allows visitors to experience advanced technologies, including taking photos with Taipei landmarks, such as Taipei 101, as background.
After the Shanghai exhibition returns, Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin (郝龍斌) said the city government would renovate the Pavilion of Future and install the theaters and interactive zone for display in April.
The Pavilion of the Future is one of the main pavilions in the flora expo’s Xinsheng Park area, which will feature rare plants.
The city government also announced that information on the expo, including maps, shuttle bus schedules and parking space availability, is available for iPhone and other smartphone users.
Transportation Department Com-missioner Luo Shiaw-shyan (羅孝賢) said the department would include more information, such as the number of visitors inside each pavilion and latest news on the event, when the expo begins on Nov. 6.
Information on the flora expo is also available on the department’s Web site.
