The Kaohsiung Steelers stand alone in the P.League+’s record books, but not in a way they would be proud of.
Their 110-106 overtime loss at home to the Taoyuan Pilots was their 10th consecutive defeat — the longest losing streak since P.League+ play began in the 2020-2021 season.
The Steelers yesterday added to their dubious record with a 109-90 loss at home to the Formosa Dreamers.

The Steelers and the Pilots had previously been tied for the record with nine straight losses.
Kaohsiung had a fairytale beginning to the season after the arrival of Jeremy Lin, who nearly took a 2-17 team into the playoffs, but Lin left for the New Taipei Kings in the off-season.
Saturday’s loss left the Kaohsiung club with a 1-11 record, four games back from the fifth-placed Pilots at 4-5, but up until the final seconds, it seemed as if the Steelers might end their run of bad luck.
Kaohsiung started strong with a 33-25 first quarter led by veteran shooter Lu Cheng-ju, who scored five three-pointers. Although the Pilots rebounded to take a 73-72 lead at the start of the fourth quarter, the Steelers eventually pulled ahead and held on to a 96-93 lead with 15 seconds left.
Alec Thomas Brown, in his second game for the Pilots, tried to tie the game from behind the arc with eight seconds left, but fired an air ball.
Luckily for the Pilots, the ball fell into the hands of Brown’s teammate Li Chia-kang. Li quickly sent the ball out to Pai Yao-cheng, who scored a game-tying three-pointer and was fouled by rookie Oli Daniel with 3.27 seconds left.
Pai had only made two of his previous 13 shots from three-point range this season before to that.
Although Pai did not make the free throw, the Pilots emerged victorious with five players chipping in points in overtime, led by Li’s four.
Olufemi Anthony Olujobi put up a season-high 35 points and had 10 rebounds and seven assists, and three other Steelers also scored in the double-digits, but it was not enough to overcome the Pilots.
Badminton world No. 3 Anders Antonsen clinched his first Indonesia Open title yesterday after beating Taiwan’s Chou Tien-chen, while South Korea’s An Se-young won her second championship in Jakarta. The 28-year-old Dane sank world No. 7 Chou at the Indonesian capital’s Istora Senayan arena, winning 22-20, 21-14 in a 60-minute match to secure the prestigious Super 1000 event. Antonsen came out on top in a tightly contested first game before cruising to victory in the second. In a more closely fought women’s singles final, South Korean ace and world No. 1 An fought back from one game down to beat China’s
Italy crashed to a 3-0 loss away to Norway, as the four-time FIFA World Cup champions made a disastrous start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign on Friday, while Belgium had to settle for a draw in North Macedonia. Alexander Sorloth, Antonio Nusa and Erling Haaland all scored in the first half in pouring rain in Oslo as Norway made it a night to forget for Italy, who missed out on the past two World Cups. “I have no explanation. Our supporters don’t deserve this kind of match. We need to do some soul-searching. It’s unacceptable,” Italy captain and goalkeeper Gianluigi

Dvalishvili (19-4) sat on top of the cage and shouted
Manchester City on Monday completed the signing of left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a reported £31 million (US$41.8 million). The 24-year-old Algeria international has signed a five-year contract and will be available for the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins later this week. Ait-Nouri is expected to be just one of a trio of new City faces for that tournament with deals close to completion for AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and Olympique Lyonnais playmaker Rayan Cherki. After missing out on a major trophy in the recently completed season for the first time since 2016-2017, City are hoping
