The US team representing Southeastern Lexington quickly overcame the deficit with Eli Hammons’ two-run RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Taiwan attempted to launch a late comeback in the sixth inning, but were unable to advance despite their batter reaching first base with only one out.

The Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series is an extension of the Babe Ruth League, which brings together players aged 12 or younger from around the world.
This year’s tournament featured 34 teams, including 10 from outside the US: Taiwan, Australia, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Canada, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico and South Korea.
Taiwan advanced to Saturday’s championship game after beating Mexico, the Caribbean, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
