The pickleball craze in the US has reached new heights with the opening last weekend of the first Picklemall, an indoor sports facility inside a mall in Tempe, Arizona.
The courts at the Arizona Mills mall in a suburb of Phoenix is open to anyone hoping to play pickleball, a fast-paced paddle sport similar to tennis and badminton, though it is played on a smaller court with a net using a perforated plastic ball.
One of the unique features of picklemall is its replay system, Picklemall chief executive officer West Shaw told reporters.

“When you have a great replay that you want to memorialize, you go here and you hit the replay button and the replay is saved,” Shaw said.
The replay is possible with the cameras installed on each court, allowing players to view recordings of their match.
The founder behind Major League Pickleball and Picklemall, Steve Kuhns, thinks this partnership with Arizona Mills mall will bring new life to dying shopping malls.
“Shopping malls in general have to find ways to bring more people here to make it more experiential... You can’t have this fun ordering something on Amazon for your house,” Kuhns said about the project, which he expects will bring in more mall-goers.
“Once they’re here, they will check out the shops. They’ll go get some food,” he added.
Invented in 1965, interest in pickleball has skyrocketed in the past few years and it is the fastest-growing sport in the US.
“Right now we’re seeing growth of 153 percent year over year. There’s really no other sport like that in the world that is just growing so rapidly with such adamant fans of the sport,” Shaw said.
Kuhns said he hopes to take advantage of the public’s appetite for pickleball by installing more facilities across the country.
“You’ll see us opening more Picklemalls and our goal here is to create a great experience for serious pickleball players, people who love the sport,” he said. “We want this to be the most fun place to play it.”

It was really difficult for me.” Dzumhur hurt his left knee in a fall in the second round, and had treatment on Friday on his right leg during the

Doue scored again just after the hour mark, ending any doubt about the outcome before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ran away to get the fourth and substitute Senny Mayulu, another teenager, made it five. Inter were
The Greek basketball league finals between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos were suspended by the government on Monday following on-court scuffles involving rival security teams. The best-of-five series is at 1-1. The third game, scheduled for today, has been postponed. The owners of both clubs were summoned to meet with the country’s sports minister. They “will be asked to provide explicit guarantees that this situation will be brought to an end. If not, this year’s championship will be definitively canceled,” government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said. “There can be no tolerance for such pathological phenomena of violence and delinquency.” In online posts, the owners of Panathinaikos and
The Edmonton Oilers on Thursday defeated the Dallas Stars 6-3 to book their place in the Stanley Cup Finals, setting up a repeat of last year’s NHL showpiece against reigning champions the Florida Panthers.
