Rookie Alexander Ovechkin had a goal and three assists, Olaf Kolzig stopped 37 shots Saturday, and the Washington Capitals ended the New York Rangers' six-game winning streak with a 5-1 win.
Ovechkin had gone six games without a goal before converting a New York mistake into his 16th of the season at 12:11 of the first period. He added assists on Washington's next three goals, helping the Capitals snap a five-game skid.
Kolzig lost a bid for his 34th career shutout when Petr Prucha scored a power-play goal with 1:43 left.
Dainius Zubrus, Steve Eminger, Jeff Halpern and Matt Pettinger also scored for the Capitals.

Mark Smith, Scott Hannon, Patrick Marleau had the other goals for the Sharks.

At Pittsburgh, Daymond Langkow scored twice in less than two minutes early in the third period and Calgary -- helped by a goal that may not have gone into the net -- won in Pittsburgh for the first time in nearly 17 years.
Kristian Huselius, acquired Friday from Florida, set up all three goals.
Pittsburgh has scored only nine goals during a five-game losing streak.
Sidney Crosby ended the longest scoring slump of his short career by netting his 13th goal on a backhander just past the midway point of the second for Pittsburgh.
Crosby hadn't scored in three games since badly bruising his left foot blocking a shot Sunday in Tampa. Mario Lemieux assisted to halt a four-game run without a point that was the longest of his long career. Ryan VandenBussche scored his first goal late in the third.

The lights dimmed and the crowd hushed as Karoline Kristensen entered for her performance. However, this was no ordinary Dutch theater: The temperature was 80°C and the audience naked apart from a towel. Dressed in a swimsuit and to the tune of emotional music, the 21-year-old Kristensen started her routine, performed inside a large sauna, with a bed of hot rocks in the middle. For a week this month, a group of wellness practitioners, called “sauna masters,” are gathering at a picturesque health resort in the Netherlands to compete in this year’s Aufguss world sauna championships.
