The prime suspect in former KMT lawmaker Huang Hsien-chou's (黃顯洲) alleged kidnapping changed her testimony yesterday and said the other major suspect in the case arranged for her to set Huang up.
Taipei prosecutors held a meeting yesterday between Huang, Chan Hui-hua (
The prostitutes are said to have been hired by Chan to maneuver Huang into compromising positions.
During the interview, Chan cried out that it was Yu who wanted her to set Huang up. She was loud enough to be heard outside the courtroo where the meeting was held.
"Huang is a nice guy," she said. "We have been friends a long time. But just friends, not boyfriend and girlfriend -- as I claimed earlier. He was trying to help my mom solve financial problems. There was no sex party. I was actually asked by somebody to do all this -- to set Huang up. And that somebody was Yu."
Total reversal
Chan previously told prosecutors that she arranged for both Hsiao-min and Hsuan-hsuan to work a sex party at Taipei's Grand Hyatt Hotel at Huang's request. She also claimed that Yu and her younger brother Chan Fu-shun (
Prosecutors and the police say they told investigators that they were hired to have sex with Huang in the hotel room. They also recounted, however, that Huang had failed to achieve an erection after ingesting a large quantity of drugs. As a result, they said, there was no "sexual exchange" between them and Huang.
Huang has stated all along that he was drugged, kidnapped and robbed of NT$800,000 in cash. He has also claimed that Hsiao-min and Hsuan-hsuan, who were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Taipei Police Headquarters, were not the two prostitutes in the room during his kidnapping.
Despite Huang's testimony to the contrary, prosecutors said that the evidence confirms that the two girls were in the room during his ordeal.
Prostitutes' story confirmed
"We are pretty sure they were there," said Chen Hung-ta (
Asked if the former lawmaker took drugs, Chen said, "the evidence shows that he was drugged."
"In addition to Chan's reversal of her testimony, today's meeting helped clarify many questions," he added.
"The main reason for the interview was to identify whether the two Chinese prostitutes were at the scene and figure out what happened in that room. We got what we wanted and hope to close this case after the Lunar New Year.," he said
