State-run Hua Nan Commercial Bank (華南銀行) — the main subsidiary of Hua Nan Financial Holdings Co (華南金控) — has launched two new credit cards targeting ordinary and affluent consumers.
The lender issued a new credit card featuring the mascot of the 7-Eleven franchise, which gives cardholders a 2.5 percent rebate for online purchases worth NT$2,000 (US$63.87) or more.
“The fast-growing popularity of the Internet merits the proposition,” the bank said in a statement on Thursday.
Hua Nan Bank has seen its annual credit card transactions rise 20 percent over the past five years, outpacing the industry average of 7 percent, the statement said.
Its credit-card usage rate was also high at more than 70 percent, ranking it third after Citibank and HSBC Bank, the statement said.
Aside from the 7-Eleven card, Hua Nan Bank issued a credit card aimed at affluent travelers.
The card offers a 2.2 percent rebate for credit charges in foreign countries, the statement said.
Credit-card applicants need to earn at least NT$1.2 million a year to apply for the card, it said.
The entry requirement is lower than NT$2 million threshold commonly required by its peers, the statement said.
