A young man was found paralyzed at an Internet cafe in Taipei County yesterday after sitting there for three days in a row, according to the Chinese-language media. The man, in his 20s and identified only by his surname Hsu, had not left his seat over three days except for visits to the toilet, according to employees at the cafe in Chungho City. He had also been smoking and drinking alcohol during his lengthy visit to the 24-hour Internet cafe, the employees said. What Hsu had been doing at the cafe is not known, but computer games are the most popular activity among regular visitors. Hsu was immediately sent to the Panchiao Hospital for emergency treatment. Physicians at the hospital said Hsu had suffered thrombosis, or clotting of blood vessels, in the lower half of his body due to sitting immobile and being in an excited state of mind for too long.
