A Peach Aviation flight to Okinawa was delayed for about three hours at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport yesterday following a bomb threat, which was sent to the airline’s headquarters.

The threat was determined to be a hoax.

The Izumisano-based budget carrier was forced to evacuate about 100 passengers aboard the flight after it received the threat. The aircraft was scheduled to take off at 10:55am.

The aircraft was then towed to the apron for a safety inspection, during which aviation police did not find anything suspicious. The airline then allowed passengers to board the flight again at about noon after they were asked to go through safety inspections for a second time. The flight departed at 1:30pm.

The airport said that it followed standard operating procedures as the information about the threat came from outside of Taiwan.
