A two-day event aimed at promoting cultural and arts exchanges between Taiwan and other Asia-Pacific countries is to be launched later this week in Taipei, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday.

Starting tomorrow, the Asia-Pacific Culture Day will offer a diversity of drama, musical and dance performances from several participating countries, along with a degustation of different foods from throughout the Asia-Pacific region, the ministry said.

A Japanese group will perform a drumming show, while other performances will feature folk culture and traditional dances from Malaysia, Tuvalu, Vietnam and the Philippines, according to the event’s Web site.

Handicrafts and artworks will also be on display at the event, which is to be held at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park.

Other participants include Fiji, Brunei, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kiribati, Nauru, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and the Solomon Islands.

A similar event last year to increase exchanges with other Asian countries was attended by nearly 20,000 people over two days.
