Father’s Day on Thursday turned into a nightmare for two parents from Taoyuan County, after their two-year-old son got stuck in a claw crane machine after he crawled up the prize chute looking for stuffed toys.
The family said they were having dinner at a restaurant when they realized their son had gone missing.
They said they heard some strange banging noises coming from a claw machine next to the restaurant.
After finding their son trapped in the toy discharge chute, the parents notified the local fire department, they said.
Firefighters who came to the rescue said the chute’s opening measured 25cm in length and 35cm in width.
“The boy was clearly so attracted by the stuffed toys displayed in the vending machine that he decided to climb up the chute to get them, only to find himself stuck inside and unable to get out,” the firefighters said.
Although the boy was rescued unscathed, the firefighters said parents should pay close attention to their children and to keep them away from potentially dangerous situations or places.
