Chunghwa Post Co (中華郵政) said yesterday it was working with China’s state-run China Post (中國郵政) to jointly expand online business operations.
Tseng Chin-hsiung (曾錦雄), director of Chunghwa Post’s mail business and operations department, said there would soon be a section on its Web site showcasing products sold by China Post and vice versa.
“Items that will be placed in each section will be carefully selected to ensure that our customers are not offered products of questionable quality,” Tseng said.
Tseng said the company hoped the service would be available next year, adding that they were still negotiating details, including the connection of the two networks.
Chunghwa Post’s plan to expand the cross-strait online shopping network is also listed as one of its top three administrative priorities for next year. In its policy briefing, Chunghwa said that both postal companies have service stations nationwide and integrated logistics networks. Since February, people in Taiwan can also wire money via Chunghwa Post directly to China Post accounts.
Hu Sheue-yun (胡雪雲), president of Chunghwa Post, said the companies had been in discussions on the possibility of further developing e-Commerce.
“We are willing and have reached consensus on the framework under which to cooperate,” Hu said. “Now it’s just the details.”

F-16 Block 70/72 are newly manufactured F-16 jets built by Lockheed Martin to the standards of the F-16V upgrade package. Republic of China

A new tropical storm formed late yesterday near Guam and is to approach closest to Taiwan on Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said. The storm’s structure is relatively loose and conditions for strengthening are limited, WeatherRisk analyst Wu Sheng-yu (吳聖宇) said on Facebook. Its path is likely to be similar to Typhoon Bebinca, which passed north of Taiwan over Japan’s Ryukyu Islands and made landfall in Shanghai this morning, he said. However, it
