China Airlines (CAL) won the international trophy for most beautiful entry from outside the US at the 119th Rose Parade with its colorful "Carnival of Taiwan" float on Tuesday.
It marked the 17th time in the last 22 years that CAL has won the award at the annual parade, which is held in the southern Californian city of Pasadena.
The 16m-long float featured a golden lion -- a Taiwanese symbol of joyous celebration.
The float consisted of Taiwan Phalenopsis, orchids, roses and chrysanthemums in shades of gold, yellow and white and depicted the joy and spirit of a Taiwanese carnival celebrating the new year.
In addition to winning the international trophy, the "Carnival of Taiwan" float also finished fourth overall in votes for the most beautiful entry.
The director of CAL's North American operations expressed confidence before the event that the company's entry would win the award.
