Director of the Taipei City Labor Affairs Department Su Ying-kuei's (Ĭ¬Õ¶Q) accusation that many Taipei City councilors have taken bribes infuriated pan-green councilors, who yesterday urged Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin (°qÀsÙy) to fire him.
Besides alleging in his blog that many Taipei City councilors in the pan-blue and pan-green camps took bribes, Su also enraged city councilors by refusing to provide information requested by councilors to use in question-and-answer sessions.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei City Councilor Liu Yao-ren (¼BÄ£¤¯) accused Su of continuing to serve as Hau's lawyer in a defamation lawsuit against former premier Frank Hsieh (Áªø§Ê) after taking the position under Hau's administration.
Hau argued that he did not hire Su after he took the position, while acknowledging that it is improper to refuse to provide information to city councilors.
Furious
Furious over Su's accusations and stories that he posted on his blog during office hours, DPP Taipei City Councilor Hung Chien-yi (¬x«Ø¯q) urged Su to name the councilors who took bribes, and demanded Hau fire Su to prevent him from damaging the performance of his municipal administration.
"How dare he slander city councilors in his blog without any solid evidence. He needs to step down to take responsibility," Hung said.
Evidence
Su failed to provide any evidence to prove the allegations and declined to name any councilors.
While urging Su to be more cooperative with the city councilors, Hau continued to defend his staffer and said he would only ask Su to leave based on job performance.
"Su is an administrative official, and it is more important that he does his job and improves labor rights in the city. So far I think he is doing fine," Hau said.
