Five soldiers were injured after a 40mm grenade exploded unexpectedly during an exercise yesterday. The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release yesterday afternoon stating that the Combined Logistics Command's Lieutenant Lee Shang-hua (李尚樺) and corporals Deng Yu-sung (鄧宇松), Tung Huan-yu (董煥宇) and Yeh Jih-feng (葉日峰) and Brigade 269 privates first class Tsai Shang-ju (蔡尚儒) and Su Chien-tai (蘇建泰) were all slightly injured when the 40mm grenade was acidentally detonated at the army's Northern Taiwan No. 105 shooting range in Hsinchu. The men suffered shrapnel injuries, but none were in critical condition, the release said.
