Lost Hualien child turns up unharmed after seven years

By Rich Chang  /  STAFF REPORTER

A nine-year-old Hualien boy who went missing seven years ago has been reunited with his parents, a local media outlet reported yesterday.

The boy's grandmother, Lee chiau-yun (李巧雲), told the Chinese-language China Times that her then two-year-old grandson was last seen on June 20, 1999, walking to the store with his five-year-old cousin.

The two ran into a woman with a scooter who claimed she would buy them both ice cream.

Police said that they wanted to interview a man called Cheng Chi-chi (鄭智治) in connection with the case.
