Three tourists from Taiwan were arrested at the main international airport in the Philippines for alleged possession of the banned drug metamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as "ice," a police official in the Philippines said yesterday. The three were identified as Lin Yi-shang, 37, Cheng Weng-feng, 38, and Lin Hu-shin, 41, all of Taipei, and were about to leave for Macau on Saturday when an X-ray machine at the airport in Manila detected the contraband in their luggage, drug squad policeman Martin Francia said. About 10kg of the banned drug was found in their luggage, Francia said, adding that the trio would be held for possible charges of illegal drug possession. If convicted, they could face life imprisonment in this country.
