The Central Election Commission (CEC) has recommended that Taipei City's election committee hold the next mayoral, city councilor and borough administrator elections on the same day, CEC Deputy Secretary-General Teng Tien-you (鄧天佑) said yesterday. The city committee has set Dec. 9 as the date for two of the elections, with the borough administrator election scheduled for Dec. 30. Teng said the CEC thinks holding the events on the same day would save a great deal in personnel costs. However, it's up to the city committee whether or not it wants to follow the CEC's suggestion, Teng added.
