The Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit System is inviting the public to enjoy a free trial ride today on the MRT's Tucheng (土城) line to celebrate the launch of the line, which is scheduled to start normal runs next week. The line, which starts from Xinpu station and will stop at the Banciao, Fuzhong, Far Eastern Hospital, Haishan, Tucheng and Yongning stations, stretches for 7.5km. The ride from Taipei Main Station to Yongning station takes about 20 minutes. Department Chief Tom Chang (常岐德) said that the Ministry of Transportation and Communication is conducting a final review of the a modification report presented by the department, and that the review should be done next week. The free-ride event will be held between 9am to 11am today between Tucheng station and Banciao station. Participants will also receive a souvenir pen.
