British POWs return for remembrance ceremony

CAMP SURVIVORS Three men who lived through the experience of working as slaves for the Japanese in Taiwan during World War II attended a memorial service

For all the former POWs, the internal pain will never go away.

"We never really recover," Houston said, half smiling. "My wife tells me that sometimes I still count Japanese numbers in my sleep."

The remembrance ceremony yesterday was co-sponsored by the Taiwan POW Camps Memorial Society and the British Trade and Cultural Office.
