Stamp designer treated like star

The designer of the No. 6 souvenir sheet -- Taiwan Festivals -- for the Taipei 2005-18th Asian International Stamp Exhibition being held at the Taipei World Trade Center said yesterday that she felt like a movie star when she was giving out her autograph to collectors who waited in a long line to see her.

Chen Yu-wen (陳玉雯), 26, said she had the jitters with so many people waiting for her autograph -- and the collectors' enthusiasm was a tremendous ego boost.

Chen said she spent about six months on the design. To stress the significance of Taiwanese festivals, Chen said she picked images of several traditional festivals that she considers as the most representative of Taiwanese culture and religions.

Chen's stamp sheet is one of eight souvenir sheets issued by Chunghwa Post for the exhibition.
