A final public meeting on the problem of freed animals will be held in Taipei tomorrow.
It will bring together 20 people with no expertise in the field. They will be joined by 12 experts from the academic, government, wildlife conservation and religious sectors serving as consultants.
Decisions will be referred to appropriate government agencies as reference when laws relating to freed animals are drafted, officials of the Chinese Non-Profit Organizations Society said.
An estimated 200 million animals are released during religious ceremonies around the nation each year. Experts say this could contribute to a biological disaster for Taiwan.
