The aggressive competition of the automobiles industries in Taiwan has been nonstop and with the increasing number of brands sensing Taiwan as a great potential market, they are constantly introducing new model lines to maintain a share in the market. That was not the first time Dr. Ganal has visited Taiwan, on October 1997, as the President of BMW Motorrad, Dr. Ganal visited the Ministry of transportation and its related branches to gain a better perspective and understanding regarding the importing policies and timing for motorcycles over 250cc in emission. This visit has built a successful foundation for future importing of the BMW Motorrad. Nonetheless, Dr. Ganal was attended many of press conferences in Hong Kong、Singapore...etc. to introduce and explain the future outlook of BMW Group for the Asia market. Along with Dr. Ganal on this trip is BMW Senior Vice President Mr. Luder Paysen who was meeting with C.E.O of PGM BMW/MINI importer S.S. Tang and executives from dealerships. Also, Dr. Ganal and Mr. Paysen visited the local dealers to get a closer look and better understanding of the sales situation of BMW、MINI and BMW Motorrad to better prepare for the future market and tailor individualized strategies for the local market.

Starlux Airlines, Taiwan’s newest international carrier, has announced it would apply to join the Oneworld global airline alliance before the end of next year. In an investor conference on Monday, Starlux Airlines chief executive officer Glenn Chai (翟健華) said joining the alliance would help it access Taiwan. Chai said that if accepted, Starlux would work with other airlines in the alliance on flight schedules, passenger transits and frequent flyer programs. The Oneworld alliance has 13 members, including American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific and Qantas, and serves more than 900 destinations in 170 territories. A new tropical storm formed late yesterday near Guam and is to approach closest to Taiwan on Thursday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said. Tropical Storm Pulasan became the 14th named storm of the year at 9:25pm yesterday, the agency said. As of 8am today, it was near Guam traveling northwest at 21kph, it said.
