    Canadian visa fees increase sharply

    By Monique Chu

Canadian visa and consular service fees in New Taiwan dollars will be increased from next Monday in light of the fluctuating exchange rates, the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT) said yesterday.

Application for a single-entry temporary resident visa will cost NT$1,875, while a multiple-entry visa will cost NT$3,750. The family rate for a temporary-resident visa will be NT$10,000, while a study permit will cost NT$3,125 and a work permit NT$3,750.

Regarding consular service fees, a request for a 24-page passport from outside Canada and the US will cost NT$2,600, while a similar request for a 48-page passport will cost NT$2,700.

The trade office said it would not be able to honor any visa-fee receipts dated June 15 or earlier for applications submitted as of next Monday.

"Payments for consular service should be made directly at the Consular Window of CTOT and only NTdollar cash is accepted," the trade office said in a press statement.
