NO SARS cases exported, government proclaims

Taiwan has been successful so far in preventing the export of SARS cases, thanks to the preventive measures carried out at harbors and airports, a high-ranking health official said yesterday.

Lee Ming-liang, who is in charge of the Executive Yuan's task force to control the spread of SARS, said that the World Health Organization has high regard for Taiwan's efforts to prevent the export of SARS.

He said that since the outbreak of SARS here in March, Taiwan has taken the temperature of all passengers at airports, including more than 260,000 incoming travelers. A number of the travelers were put into quarantine to prevent the spread of the disease.
