Semyon Varlamov stopped 29 shots for his first shutout of the season, leading the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-0 victory over Chicago on Tuesday night and snapping Blackhawks star Patrick Kane’s points streak at 26 games.
Matt Duchene had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche, who won their third straight to cap a perfect four-day road trip, including wins winning against the Nashville Predators and the St Louis Blues.
Zach Redmond scored in the second period and Gabriel Landeskog added an empty-netter with 1 minute, 57 seconds left.

Varlamov was sharp when needed in earning his 19th career shutout and third against Chicago, but Colorado limited Chicago’s chances — and Kane.
Kane’s franchise-record streak was the longest since Mats Sundin’s 30-game stretch in the 1992-1993 season.
The Chicago right wing had 16 goals and 24 assists during the run, and has points in all but three of the Blackhawks’ 32 games.
STARS 5, BLUE JACKETS 1
Tyler Seguin broke open a tight game with two second-period goals 30 seconds apart in Dallas’ victory over Columbus.
Kari Lehtonen improved to 11-1-0 by making 34 saves. He also notched his third assist of the season on Seguin’s first goal.
Defensemen Johnny Oduya and Alex Goligoski each scored to give the Stars the lead in the first and second period respectively.
Scott Hartnell scored on a power play for Columbus at 4 minutes, 32 seconds of the second before Goligoski’s goal at 13 minutes, 2 seconds gave the Stars a lead they never relinquished. Seguin’s 16th and 17th goals came at 16 minutes, 26 seconds and 16 minutes, 56 seconds.
Columbus rookie Joonas Korpisalo had 23 saves before Curtis McElhinney replaced him for the third period. McElhinney stopped six shots, but gave up a goal to rookie Mattias Janmark.
SHARKS 3, CANADIENS 1
Joe Pavelski scored once and added an assist for San Jose as they beat Montreal to snap a six-game skid.
Patrick Marleau and Dainius Zubrus also scored for the Sharks. Martin Jones made 26 saves for his 13th victory of the season.

Dustin Tokarski, making his third consecutive start, stopped nine of 12 shots before being pulled midway through the second period. Mike Condon stopped all six shots he faced in relief.
San Jose, who earned their first victory this month, are 12-0 when leading after two periods.
BLUES 4, JETS 3
Paul Stastny scored the tiebreaking goal with 3 minutes, 38 seconds left in regulation as St Louis fought back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Winnipeg.
After Jets forward Mark Scheifele hit the post with a shot, the Blues moved the puck the other way and Vladimir Tarasenko fed a pass across to Stastny. He put a shot off the post and past rookie goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.
Alexander Steen and Tarasenko each scored on a power play, and Troy Brouwer also had a goal for St Louis. Jake Allen stopped 33 shots.
Steen, Tarasenko and Kevin Shattenkirk had two assists apiece.
The loss halted a three-game home winning streak for the Jets, who got goals from Scheifele, Chris Thorburn and Drew Stafford. Hellebuyck made 22 saves.
Winnipeg had a 3-1 lead in the second period before the Blues mounted their comeback.
RANGERS 4, OILERS 2
Rick Nash and Mats Zuccarello each had a goal and an assist as New York ended Edmonton’s six-game winning streak.
Dylan McIlrath scored his first NHL goal and Jesper Fast added an empty-netter in the final seconds to help the Rangers snap a three-game slide. Keith Yandle finished with two assists, while Henrik Lundqvist stopped 18 shots.
Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle scored for the Oilers.
FLYERS 4, HURRICANES 3, OT
Shayne Gostisbehere scored 1 minutes, 42 seconds into overtime, lifting Philadelphia past Jeff Skinner and the Carolina Hurricanes.
Jakub Voracek had a goal and two assists, while Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier also scored for the Flyers, who won their seventh in 11 games, improving to 7-6 in overtime.
Skinner had his second hat-trick in three games and the third of his career for the Hurricanes. He has nine goals in his last six games.
Gostisbehere netted the game-winner after receiving a backhand pass from Voracek. Gostisbehere also had the winning goal in overtime in Philadelphia’s 3-2 victory over Carolina on Nov. 23.
Michal Neuvirth, Philadelphia’s backup, made his 14th start and third straight. He finished with 29 saves, improving to 8-4-2.
