Kyle Okposo scored the only goal of a shootout, while Frans Nielsen scored twice in regulation as the New York Islanders beat the Philadelphia Flyers 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Jaroslav Halak had 43 saves through overtime and stopped all three Flyers attempts in the tiebreaker, while Brock Nelson also scored to help the Islanders win for the sixth time in eight games (6-0-2).
Ryan White, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Claude Giroux scored for Philadelphia. Steve Mason gave up three goals on 10 shots before he was replaced about midway through the second period, while Michal Neuvirth had 16 saves.

Okposo, New York’s second skater in the shootout, used a stellar move to pull the puck onto his forehand before roofing it over Neuvirth.

Alec Martinez had an assist on the tying goal and then scored the winner at 4 minutes, 33 seconds of overtime to rally Los Angeles past Columbus.
Christian Ehrhoff and Jeff Carter also scored, while Jonathan Quick had 21 saves for the Kings, who won their fifth straight and improved to 6-0-1 in their past seven games.
Scott Hartnell and Matt Calvert scored for Columbus, who lost goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky to an apparent injury in the third period. Bobrovsky had 33 saves and Curtis McElhinney stopped five of seven shots he faced.
Carter tied it for with 1 minute, 27 seconds left in regulation, sliding home his 11th of the season in a scramble near the crease, with Quick pulled for an extra skater.
In overtime, Dustin Brown passed to Nick shore on the left side, and he sent it to Martinez at the back door.
CAPITALS 3, RED WINGS 2, SO
Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored in a shootout, lifting Washington past Detroit.
Alex Ovechkin tied the score at 10 minutes, 51 seconds of the third period as the Capitals killed a Red Wings power play in overtime to force the shootout.
Oshie began by beating Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard, while Gustav Nyquist was denied by Braden Holtby on the other end. Kuznetsov followed by with an easy goal, while Pavel Datsyuk missed to provide the Capitals with the win.
Justin Williams also scored for Washington.
Howard stopped 38 shots. Despite the loss, the Red Wings earned a point in an 11th straight game (8-0-3), their longest streak since 2010. Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Jurco scored for Detroit.
MAPLE LEAFS 3, DEVILS 2, SO
Tyler Bozak and Nazem Kadri scored in a shootout, while Garret Sparks made 25 saves to lead Toronto.
P.A. Parenteau and James van Riemsdyk scored in regulation for the Maple Leafs. Kadri converted in the fifth round of the tiebreaker for the win.
Lee Stempniak and Kyle Palmieri scored for the Devils, while Corey Schneider stopped 36 shots. Mike Cammalleri tallied in the shootout.
The Leafs went 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Devils scored twice on five chances with the man advantage.

Patrick Sharp scored on a power play with 19 seconds remaining to lift Dallas.
Sharp took a pass from John Klingberg above the right faceoff circle and sent a slap-shot off Carolina goaltender Eddie Lack and into the net.
The Hurricanes had rallied with four third-period goals to tie the score with 6 minutes, 43 seconds remaining.
Dallas’ Jamie Benn scored his league-leading 19th goal and added three assists. He combined with Tyler Seguin (one goal, three assists) and Valeri Nichuskin (one goal, two assists) for three goals and eight assists. Patrick Eaves and Johnny Oduya also scored, while Klingberg also had three assists.
Justin Faulk had two goals, while Jaccob Slavin, Phillip di Giuseppe and Jeff Skinner also scored for Carolina.
