Carolina’s Brandon Sutter netted twice in a wild third period as the Hurricanes beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-4 on Monday.
Sutter gave Carolina a 3-1 lead early in the third and when Toronto’s Tim Brent scored twice in a minute to tie the game, he struck again to put the Hurricanes back in front.
Jeff Skinner gave Carolina another two-goal cushion at 11:02, but Mike Brown’s power-play goal three minutes later brought the Leafs back into the game at 5-4.
Erik Cole scored an empty-netter in the final minute to seal the win for Carolina (24-19-6), who defeated the Maple Leafs for the fifth consecutive time. They have also won nine of their last 11 meetings.
Toronto (19-24-5) have lost five of their last six games overall.
Carolina’s Joe Corvo opened the scoring in the first period before Tomas Kaberle equalized. Jamie McBain scored midway through the second period to give the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead.
VANCOUVER 7, DALLAS 1
In Vancouver, the Vancouver Canucks scored three goals from their first five shots to set up a 7-1 rout of the Dallas Stars on Monday.
Alexandre Burrows, Ryan Kesler and Christian Ehrhoff scored early as Vancouver got back to winning ways after a four-game losing sequence and became the first Western Conference team to reach 30 wins.
Henrik Sedin had a goal and two assists, while Mikael Samuelsson (14 games), Mason Raymond (11 games) and Dan Hamhuis (25 games) all ended long goal droughts for the Canucks.
KINGS 2, BRUINS 0
In Los Angeles, the hosts made it five consecutive wins over Boston.
Ryan Smyth gave the Kings a 1-0 lead in the first period, ending an 0-for-22 power-play drought that spanned the previous seven games.
Andrei Loktionov added LA’s second.
RANGERS 2, CAPITALS 1, SO
In Washington, Artem Anisimov scored the decisive goal in the shootout as New York beat Washington.
Each team scored twice in the shootout before Anisimov ended the duel by beating rookie Capitals goalie Braden Holtby.
Backup goaltender Martin -Biron had 22 saves for the Rangers, who were pushed harder this time than the 7-0 win over Washington last month. Matt Hendricks opened the scoring for the Capitals.
FLAMES 3, PREDATORS 1
In Calgary, Miikka Kiprusoff made 23 saves to preserve Calgary’s win over Nashville.
Jarome Iginla, Curtis Glecross and Brendan Morrison scored for Calgary, which has three straight wins.
It was Morrison’s third goal in three games.
David Legwand scored the lone goal for the Predators.

In Denver, Colorado, Brandon Yip scored twice as Colorado downed St Louis.
Kevin Shattenkirk broke a third-period tie on a power-play and Ryan Stoa added a valuable insurance goal as the Avalanche beat St Louis for a sixth straight time.
