The Phoenix Coyotes maintained their hot steak on home ice after a 3-2 shootout win over the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday earned them a 10th successive home triumph.

Lauri Korpikoski scored the only goal in the shootout to improve the Coyotes’ home record to 16-5-0 on the year.

“I’m just proud of how hard the guys competed,” Coyotes coach Dave Tippett told reporters. “I mean you’ve got Vancouver on a winning streak, sitting here last night watching our game on TV. We played a hard, hard game in San Jose and we come back here and the guys muster up that kind of effort, it makes our whole coaching staff very proud.”

Jason LaBarbera made 28 saves in place of regular Phoenix (25-13-3) goalie Ilya Bryzgalov, including four saves in overtime.

It was a satisfying performance for LaBarbera, who was playing against his former team having backed up Roberto Luongo for a time last season.

“It’s always weird when you play your ex-team mates, especially when it’s so close,” LaBarbera said.

Ed Jovanovski put Phoenix ahead midway through the second before Mikael Samuelsson tied it up less than a minute later. Petr Prucha made it 2-1 for the Coyotes at 17:02. Vancouver (23-16-1) forced overtime when Kyle Wellwood scored with 6:12 remaining.

In other NHL action, it was:

• Sabres 4, Penguins 3

• Ducks 4, Wild 2

• Coyotes 3, Canucks 2

• Islanders 2, Blue Jackets 1, SO

• Predators 4, Blues 3

• Stars 5, Blackhawks 4
