Jamal Crawford scored 50 points to help undermanned Golden State beat the Charlotte Bobcats 110-103 on Saturday, giving Warriors coach Don Nelson a win in his first NBA game with a new coaching alignment.
A night after Nelson announced he would no longer have anything to do with the Warriors’ NBA-worst defense, assistant Keith Smart handled that while Crawford handled the offense — and then some.
Acquired from New York last month, Crawford was 14-of-26 from the field, 5-of-8 on 3-pointers and made 17 of 18 free throws. He was two points shy of his career high as the Warriors snapped a five-game losing streak.

If all goes well when the biggest marathon field ever gathered in Australia races 42km through the streets of Sydney on Sunday, World Marathon Majors (WMM) will soon add a seventh race to the elite series. The Sydney Marathon is to become the first race since Tokyo in 2013 to join long-established majors in New York, London, Boston, Berlin and Chicago if it passes the WMM assessment criteria for the second straight year. “We’re really excited for Sunday to arrive,” race director Wayne Larden told a news conference in Sydney yesterday. “We’re prepared, we’re ready. The lights dimmed and the crowd hushed as Karoline Kristensen entered for her performance. However, this was no ordinary Dutch theater: The temperature was 80°C and the audience naked apart from a towel.
